Reintroducing a premium Dutch soda brand

Challenge

Help an international soft drink manufacturer relaunch a famous Dutch soda brand by conveying its uniqueness and brand heritage.

Strategy

Vrumona re-introduced a line of mixers under the Russell & Co. brand. Vrumona honors the brand’s origins with a range of premium soft drinks inspired by authentic flavors from the past. The new brand website needed to convey a taste of history as well as the present aspirations of the brand. 

Guided by the brand identity of the old Russell & Co., we created a digital brand strategy. By building a content library for all visuals, we ensured a consistent brand experience for the company. Next was the visualization of the brand story in a video and combining all elements into a brand website where everything came together.

Creative

The creative challenge was how to turn Russell & Co.’s rich history into a digital reality. As the brand was just re-introduced, there were literally no images or assets that could be used for storytelling.

We designed and developed a sleek looking, animated website to introduce the three new soda flavors. A set of theatrically animated illustrations remind the visitor of the history of the brand while jumping to modern times with high resolution close-ups of cocktails being poured. Every detail is designed and built to make visitors long for one of their thirst quenching drinks.

Technology

The website was built as an interactive experience and a standalone platform. The show stopping feature of this project was the cocktail-maker: an application on a separate page where visitors could act as digital bartenders and choose ingredients for their unique cocktails, which they could name afterwards.

The application required complex technology to handle the ingredient selection and, for example, the result of pouring too much into a glass. We also included a gallery that showcased the unique cocktails with their respective names.
